Anne Mathews, M.D., is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and in the subspecialties of Pain Management and Neuromuscular Medicine. After finishing medical school, she completed one year of internship at Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, New York. Following the internship, Dr. Mathews then went on to complete a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation SUNY University Hospital of Brooklyn Downstate Medical Center. After the residency, she worked at DuBois Regional Medical Center as attending physician and served as Assistant Medical Director of the Rehabilitation Unit for four years.
Dr. Mathews joined Central NY Physiatry PC in August 2001. She was actively involved in the acute inpatient rehabilitation units of Faxton and Rome Hospitals for several years. She is now actively involved as a consultation physician at the rehabilitation unit of St. Luke's Home. Her general practice includes electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies, pain management musculoskeletal care and general rehabilitation.
Dr. Mathews has over 15 years' experience in diagnosing and managing acute injuries occurring at work, in motor vehicle accidents or during sports activities. Her practice also includes evaluation of patients for the purpose of Independent Medical Examinations with recommendations thereafter. Currently, her interest has expanded into the field of musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Dr. Mathews is a strong proponent of practicing evidence-based medicine.
